U Concept Academy 4.
When a Speech Disorder Is Caused by Muscle Dysfunction
Have you ever had a case where therapy was progressing well, but then, for some reason, came to a sudden halt? There’s something going on in the background—it could be poor breathing patterns, inadequate swallowing function, or even immature orofacial muscle function. But what should be the next step? More and more speech-language pathologists are realizing that the traditional toolkit alone is no longer sufficient for these cases.
In speech-language pathology practice, functional disorders that require new solutions are becoming increasingly common.
Myofunctional Therapies and U Concept Trainers in Speech Therapy
Beginner Professional Course for Speech Therapists
The myofunctional approach has now become one of the most important and indispensable complementary tools in speech-language pathology practice. Supporting proper breathing, swallowing, and orofacial functions plays a key role in treating numerous speech and developmental problems—and this training provides practical, immediately applicable knowledge for this purpose.
U Concept Academy 4 is a practice-oriented introductory course designed specifically for speech-language pathologists. It introduces the role of muscle function and myofunctional therapies, as well as the use of U Concept trainers, all condensed into a single active afternoon session. Our goal is to impart knowledge that participants can confidently apply in their own therapeutic work as early as the very next day.
One of the most exciting new features of the October training course is a live patient demonstration. Through the examination of a young child, we will demonstrate how to identify myofunctional abnormalities and the criteria for selecting the appropriate U Concept trainer. This makes the theory immediately tangible, and participants can see how what they’ve learned is applied in a real clinical setting.
During the course, you will learn about:
- the operating principles of myofunctional trainers
- the most important speech-language pathology and orthodontic indications
- the criteria for selecting the appropriate device
- and the practical steps for successful application
The workshop places a strong emphasis on gaining hands-on experience: participants will have the opportunity to try out the trainers, learn about the handover process and the most important elements of parent education, as well as numerous methods and resources that facilitate daily therapeutic work.
If you’d like to expand your professional toolkit with state-of-the-art therapeutic options and confidently apply myofunctional trainers in practice, then this training is for you.
๐ Space is limited: max. 24 participants – due to the hands-on nature of the course, we can only accommodate small groups so that everyone can try out the trainers and receive personalized feedback.
