Due to its small size and softness, the device can be given from 3 years of age if the child is psychologically fit to wear it. Often helps to wean from pacifiers or finger sucking, which is an important step forward in itself. The device also includes a lip contact stimulator (small ear on the buccal part of the trainer), which helps the child to keep the mouth closed and, not insignificantly, also serves to reassure the parent (to see that the child has not swallowed the appliance).

WHAT IS A TRAINER?

A trainer is a function educator that influences the development of the jaw bones through a dynamic balance of muscle function around the mouth, resting position and force of the tongue during function, and preferred nasal breathing. It can be used from about 3-4 years of age, allowing the correct muscular and respiratory functions to develop during development. In childhood and adulthood, it helps to relieve existing excessive muscle tension. Promotes the strengthening of weak muscles. Helps to correct bad habits that have already developed, such as: mouth breathing, tongue thrust swallowing, lip-swallowing, low tongue position, lower lip behind upper front tooth, weak lip muscles, certain types of speech defects, etc.

The use of soft silicone material greatly eases the difficulties of getting used to it. The wide range of the trainer range covers the entire range of anomalies to be treated. Choosing from a range of different colours makes the device you choose more lovable for children. If discomfort is felt, the devices can be easily adapted to the patient's size.

GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS OF THE DEVICES:

The devices are made of sterilizable, biocompatible, odourless silicone in Shore 30 and 50 hardness. Shore 30 devices are very comfortable due to their softness, thus helping the acclimatisation phase. However, due to the same property, they can be more easily chewed up than Shore 50 hardness if misused. The recommended protocol is to start with Shore 30 hardness and switch to Shore 50 hardness if necessary (frequent chewing).

THE MECHANISM OF ACTION OF THE DEVICES:

Its mechanism of action is based on "treating" primarily the FUNCTIONAL MATRIX surrounding the teeth and jawbones: breathing, soft tissues, muscles, tongue, bad habits, posture, TMI.
A well-functioning FUNCTIONAL MATRIX creates a healthier environment for growing jawbones, so that dental arches develop in harmony with each other. This is why it is of paramount importance to start treatment at an early age. The sooner we neutralise bad habits, muscle tension and abnormal muscle function in the FUNCTIONAL MATRIX area, the sooner a healthy environment is created, preventing the development of dental and jawbone abnormalities or the worsening of existing abnormalities.
